Cordierite ceramics for foundry

Cordierite ceramics are among the most widely used refractories in modern foundries. The combination of low thermal expansion, excellent thermal resistance and good resistance against abrupt temperature changes makes it an ideal choice for applications involving rapid temperature changes or repeated heating and cooling cycles.

Cordierite (chemically Mg₂Al₄Si₅O₁₈) is a material with excellent stability and long service life, even during long-term operation in demanding conditions.

Cordierite components are used primarily where a combination of resistance, precision, and long-term stability is required.
