Cordierite ceramics are a technical material designed primarily for applications involving extreme electrical stress and frequent abrupt temperature changes. It is based on the mineral cordierite (2MgO·2Al₂O₃·5SiO₂), which is characterized by extremely low thermal expansion, resistance to temperature changes, chemical stability, and high electrical insulation capacity.
These properties make cordierite ceramics irreplaceable in thermal technologies, where conventional ceramic materials fail due to stress and deformation.
The material is ideal for components requiring reliable electrical insulation and resistance to harsh temperature conditions.
Typical areas of application:
Protective ceramic casings for seating of the fusing wire of a power fuse. They have high mechanical resistance to short-circuit currents. They are produced as casings of power fuses and casings for very quick fuses securing electronic semiconductor circuits.
Resistance wire holders have a very wide application scope thanks to their material variety and thus specific characteristics. They are used e.g. for traction and resistance devices in the branch of electric transport.
Ceramics for foundry industry includes mainly spouts, pouring sieves and support rails. The products are used as heat-insulating parts in precise casting of metals, exhibiting heat resistance of up to 1650 °C.
Pipes, rods and rails have a very wide scope of application. They are produced as full rods, tubes, multi-opening capillaries both with a round cross-section and a variable cross-section defined on the customer’s request. They are made with the outer diameter from 2 mm to 95 mm.
Cordierite welding strips are mainly used in welding and joining technology, where they serve as a heat-resistant support during welding and soldering.
Ceramic combs are used to guide and fix conductors in a precise position. They prevent them from touching and from voltage jumps. Resistance wire holders have a wide range of uses thanks to their variety of shapes and specific properties.
Cordierite bushings enable safe passage of conductors through the metal walls of cabinets, furnaces, and switchboards. They prevent damage to the conductor insulation and at the same time ensure electrical insulation between the conductor and the equipment structure.
